Nope. Not at all. I called their freecall number with some problems I was having and they were more than happy to help. I was fully satisfied.
yes, paypal has always been preety easy to use with simple features, but they have many possibilities to improve their services. on the otherhand Gbuy, as they will be competing, should be looking forward for better services and also user friendly for people all over.
This will be a huge kick-in-the-pants for Paypal, they are quite weak in a few areas, mainly policy and procedures. I look forward to a good competition raising the bar on online payments.
They are left with no other option now....may be they will lower the transaction feesm as well soon...
I've been expecting Google will not do that ugly limitation with countries lik PayPal does. Too bad, actually
Google Checkout seems to be geared towards tangible products and sellers in general with their Adwords tie-in. It remains to be seen what kind of procedures they'll implement regarding digital products/services. I believe sellers will go where the buyers are. But to me, Google Checkout just seems like it's trying to sign up as many sellers as possible. It does have really low transaction fees, which I read is actually below or close to the normal fees paid to credit card companies so they are actually subsidizing part of each transaction. They obviously are looking to make it up with increased Adwords spend. They don't seem to be offering that much incentive for buyers to sign up other than "trust the Google brand and security." No real value offered here over PayPal so why should buyers sign up, unless they're some Google fanboy/girl. We have to keep in mind PayPal is the firmly established, dominant incumbent in this market. It's easier said than done to gain that critical mass of users - and with such a large marketplace like Ebay supporting PayPal, they are in a good competitive position. Google's just keeps rolling out me-too products and services that are failing to gain any real traction against existing players. The only things I think they've really innovated in are search, contextual ads, gmail, and maybe analytics. But competition is always good and I hope Google Checkout will motivate PayPal to perhaps lower their fees a little bit. But for now, I'll continue using PayPal.
I really wish Google Checkout was more like Paypal, since there comission fees are less then Paypal's. I'd love to be able to send and receive payments with Google's service.
checkout may be a competitor for 2CO or websites like this, it has almost nothing to do with paypal, unfortunately
Well I'm sure they're going to roll out more features and services associated with Checkout, and fine-tune certain aspects as time goes by. But Google Checkout is "Gbuy". Gbuy was just a pseudonym being used for while this service was still rumored and unconfirmed.
I signed up and checked theh whole thing out. I was bummed with what I saw, since I sell digital goods.
For me the decision will all come down to this: How transparent is it to the buyer who is not already signed up? Has anyone here bought without having previously set up a Google Checkout account?
Paypal is the more familiar brand and will be for awhile still I think, but it couldn't hurt to give googlecheckout as an option as well. I have an account with both.
I guess how much time will they take to offer it worldwide. News around the globe is also that they are coming up with GDrive and a portal on health. They have already started offering free mail server. They are really moving very fast now..
