The online payment race has been already won by paypal, I dont think it will be easy for G to beat paypal.
In India not even 1% know about paypal ..even Citibank India Employees donno wht is it ..there is long way up for paypal in India
I'm sorry, I hate to admit, I didn't read all 3 pages of replies to this thread, so I may be repeating something someone already said. But here goes.... I hadn't heard of GBuy until I stumbled upon this thread - 1 point Paypal If GBuy doesn't freeze accounts and hold money (I've never experienced this, but I've heard many a horror story), then they'll get those people - 1 point GBuy Google is GINORMOUS and can break into any market (I think), no matter how much market share someone else already has - 1 point GBuy Paypal has ebay - 1 point Paypal Most of us love (at least like) Paypal - 1 point Paypal I'd like to see a competitor's rates and offers....finally - 1 point GBuy FINAL SCORE: 3 - 3 .... A tie. Penalty shots? It is World Cup time! I think I'll try both for a while, then make an "educated" decision. As I'm sure a lot of people will. I am very curious to see how this goes. I think GBuy will make a very good run at a business that's basically dominated by one entity. I won't switch over subscriptions, I'm sure most people won't. But I'll try it with new ventures. -boxer126 P.S. This is an important edit I just saw immediately after posting.... 1 point GBuy.....WINNER!
wow, everyone's going to go with Gbuy eh? I think I'll stay with PayPal until Gbuy is really popular. As of now, I don't think i'll make the switch just yet (when it comes public).
Its one thing to vote that you will stop using Paypal and go with GBuy but lets see how many of those same people are posting in B/S/T saying Payments Accepted: GBuy (Sorry, no Paypal)
The smart move is you will end up using both. If you limit yourself to one or another it will probably cost you business. This creates a bit of a money-managing headache, at least in the short-term. I think Google will be very aggressive and thus it will make sense to have GBuy as an option as well. With no initial charges, it would be prudent to have it available as a payment option because it would save you money on every transaction. I think it will take a while for Google to make any real impact in Paypal's marketplace, but I think it will be a common currency for webmaster-to-webmaster transactions etc. If Google ties in GBuy with the ability to fund and withdraw from adwords and adsense, it will help that much more. But, as others wiser than me noted.. It would be foolish to think you will just abandon Paypal.
Since I am from India, I dont think I can use GBuy. If they are allowing Indians then I will have to go for it considering the fact tht ppl/companies paying me pay only via Gbuy and also if it dosent take 25-30 days to receive a cheque from them in India. Gbuy will score if they allow direct bank transfers to non US banks...that would be a Home Run for them.
If the rumour that GBuy is US only then I'll cry. But I think it is true. Because I don't think Google has made deals with all the worlds' banks.
I guess the URL isn't gbuy.com . Anyways, we all know that Gbuy will become HUGE, so I guess what aeiouy said is 100% true. You'd better go with both, or you're screwed.
Lol even i experianced the same thing with a leading bank of India named UTI. I wannted to use my debit card for accepting paypal payments. Staff asked me what is Paypal, i tried to explain them but of no use than they send me to the Forex dept who were also not sure as well so i left out finally... I wonder this thread is not rated yet...
r u sure that GBuy will be offered internationally??? I hope and pray that it should be for all; atleast they should offer to all Citibank or this sort of international bank account holder;
I will stick with Paypal. But I'll also open an account with GBuy to know its working. Think how will we work together if there was not a system like PayPal. Thank You PayPal!!!
