I think showing affection in a public place is totally uncalled for. It often makes the people involved look childish.

If I ever decide to have children they will grow up tolerant of other people. It's not rocket science. I'd say they love each other just like mommy and daddy do, and they are people just like us... my child wouldn't grow up to be a homophobe.

Exactly. I think that this issue will work itself out in the long run...

Remember, before the US Civil War, blacks were not allowed to get married... And interracial couples couldn't wed until the 1960's...

Explains what? What does the fact that I don't currently have children have to do with anything? My beliefs aren't going to change if I decide to have a kid.

I was raised to be tolerant of other people. I'd instill those same values on my child. Like I said... it's definitely not rocket science.

If the child is raised to be tolerant of people, chances are he's going to continue to be that way even when he's on his own.

Hey, I grew up.. not being a homophobic or racist and my parents were the ones who always told me gays were bad, etc with a lot of racist comments over several races on top of that.. it's the new generation :)

The media and society are slowly (but surely) changing their views.

He probably thinks that womens only mission in life is to marriage a man and get pregnant and take care of the home and children while the man works...

That's quite the mindset of the 17th century  seeing how there are plenty of women in all professions with different choices in life.. not always falling into the conventional housewife! We're not slaves :p infact, most of my female friends fear to follow such roles!

I am one of those females that wouldn't follow that role at all!!!!

    I don't even think I want children.

Nor do I :D But it's obviously that this mindset (of "independence" or.. not being a housewife) is becoming much much more common. I mean I can understand why some men would like to see it that way. If it was the other way around, I wouldn't complain if my husband did the dishes, took care of the kids and cleaned the house :D

    Haha... sure.

I'm all for equal partnerships, though. I think a man and a woman should divide household and child rearing responsibilities equally (or at least not put it all on the woman OR man to do everything.)

Equal is a must imo.. but then again it depends our preferences.. I'm sure there are some people out there willing to do all of the housework (and there's that cultural thing too)

Of course. But even if I had a husband who wanted to do everything, I'd feel bad and insist on helping :p

There's got to be a leader of the family, to facilitate the making of decisions

There doesn't have to be a leader. Equal partnerships are more effective, imo.

I don't want kids. But what does that have to do with ANYTHING, Nfs?

Well I am all for equal partnership.

My wife cooks, I eat ;) equal..

On the serious note: I dont feel that house chores are female things at all..
I dont have any problem doing any chores. because thats my house and thats my family.

Although my wife doesnt let me to do cleaning, I am such a lame in it that often its like -
