It's not just you. I've been getting slammed by spammers from this URL. I just added it to my banned list.

Yes, I've had the same problem. I prevented members from signing up with @gawab.com addresses, and my ban log shows they still keep trying to sign up with that. Well, I'm actually glad that spammers are using gawab as it makes it so much easier to keep them out.

WOW! Just did a search and I've got 26 of them, almost all registered during the past month.

Good thing I require e-mail verification and then manual verification by myself.

I'm also banning e-mails comming from these addresses:

I got the list from a vB.com or vB.org thread about two years ago.

Unless I missed it in your lists above, don't forget @ cashette dot com

Same gang I think using gawab - after I banned cashette they moved to gawab.

Then there are the new single girl spammers with the e-mail address in the posts - seen those?

    Grrrrrr.

WOW! Done another search for registrations with cashette . com e-mails and there's 55 of them; my registration numbers are getting more and more depressing.

We have been getting exactly those. They are a real pain in the ass. But banning the email domain in vBulletin Options-User Banning Options seems to have helped us.

    Hi, all!

I found you because I did a google search for gawab.com . I also am now having a problem with spammers and porns. They join, then post ads for some medical product, or they join with porn names and use a url to a porn site.

I just banned numerous ip's which I found by going directly to mysql database. My forum is a vbulletin forum. I teach math in a public high school. My forum is about plants. This is not good. Why are these people doing this?

Thanks for the list of emails. I will add those to the banned list.

If any of you can help me block this, I would greatly appreciate it.

Just add the address through your VB admin panel and it stops

This all started a couple of weeks ago, right after the first day of school.

The first user to join in this 'effort' was loginemm at gawab.com , and that one was followed by ebanaya78 at mail.ru . The next was pokerpoker at mail.ru . Then it was lopaspopas at pisem.net followed by zvy002 at ukr.net and then the others just starting joining one after another and posting either medical stuff or porn or soliciting a partner of sorts.

I'm not real good with mysql because it is after my time, but I can manage to manuever around it. My user list in the myadmin is corrupt due to a bad service provider who set my database limit to 1 meg. When I went over, my database was gone. I had to recoup from scratch and because of that, I have not upgraded Vbulletin until I have time to figure it all out and fix it which will not be any time soon. School keeps me busy.

Do any of you know where 'interests' is stored in the database. That is the only thing that I have not been able to clear on the member records.

    Thanks!

    Ann

My advice move to a professional hosting company - limiting database to 1meg is outragious!!

Without myadmin your going to find it long winded and difficult to maintaince your forum. So, get rid of the host, and move to someone else, and then upgrade your forum!

That was about 4-5 years ago. The company was featureprice.com, and yes, I found out the hard way how dumb it was. I had to rebuild my database from scratch because the only way they let me back up was also BAD!

I went to venturesonline.com and they were good, but they sold and the good news is that I am still getting fairly good service.

I seem to have gotten rid of the unwanted members for now, anyway.

Myadmin works for everything except some of the user functions. I simply need the time to figure it out and fix it so that I can upgrade to the latest version. I thought I was going to be able to do that this past summer, but then found out I had to pass the Praxis II Math Content in order to continue teaching. It's been a long time since I went to college, but somehow I managed.

Thanks to you all. I'll be back to browse these forums when I get a chance.

Add @burnacouplemore.com to your list. They've been trying to hammer my forum for the past 48 hours.

This seems a general problem with VB as even with the latest version the spam bots are still getting though and VB has no answer.

OK for me as have a small forum but must be a nightmare for big ones as they reg then come back about 4 days later and post a spam post

Im sure VB wil sort it but its been going on sometime

For me every new reg.. gets the oncer over and also put the user name thought google search quickly and you will be surprised what that turns up :)

I had the same problem on my Tech Forums. Spammers had been signing up there with gmail email addresses and adding their links on their profiles. They did not make any posts there. They would just register and add links to their profiles.
I remove the option of adding your website to your profile. So even if they register now, they would not be any benefit to it now.
