    A gateway page is a page purely built for search engines. Historically they were stuffed with keywords and content that the search engines would love - so search engines would rank them prominently in their results. They then have a big link (or a redirect) that takes customers through to the page the webmaster actually wants people to end up on.

    Gateway pages don't work so well these days, and are against the webmaster guidelines - ie. could get you penalised.
