That would be interesting if he did. One really cool movie to watch about Bill Gates is called "Pirates of Silicon Valley", which is about how Apple and Microsoft started out, and how Gates "pirated" Apple technology to make it his own...I don't know how much truth there is to the movie, but I highly recommend it - and it relates to what is stated above with regard to integrating software and that kind of a thing.

MSN's Internet strategy has been awful from the start. It prompted the DOJ investigation, has killed their stock price because of the anticipated expenses, and been an enormous cash sink. They will never recover the investment in MSN and Internet Explorer.

Windows Vista is a complete failure. I don't think it will be released anytime soon.

If Gates win the match, the consumer lossess.
If Google win the match, life goes on.
If is a draw, there will be many rematch, releasing better products to fight back opponent, the consumer wins.

I'm actually rooting for Microsoft. They seem to be doing a better job indexing sites and offering new, and relevant content in the SERPs as oppossed to Google's first come first serve approach to SERP rankings.

Whats next? Google developing an alternative for Windows?

I guess that would be a good direction for Google to take. Think about it... they have billions of cash and right now there is no credible alternative to Windows.

Google could probably distribute their OS for free and crush Microsoft :)

or just download IE7 and the adress balk serves as the MSN search box. Or put MSN as the standart in the Firefox search bar... But they really should move the current msn.com to like news.msn.com en put the search.msn.com on msn.com. Will be much better.

I think Ask has a better chance at crushing Google. First they will crush MSN.

I don't see how Google is a midget compared to Microsoft, as some of you are saying. I don't know about stock value or whatever, but when was the last time you saw Microsoft come out with something GREAT?

The people at Google are innovators. They are constantly coming up with new ideas. That's why they're number 1 right now. And until other players in the field start taking some risks and making changes, that's how it's gonna stay I think.

Google is half the size of Microsoft, so you're right, it's not really a "midget".

You mean half the size in monetary value?

I'm only talking about power as it relates to both companies' innovativeness and potential. I don't see Microsoft as a pioneer, whereas Google is.

Don't get me wrong, if Microsoft's got some great new technology up their sleaves then good for them. I just haven't seen anything like that thus far.
