I agree. Simply de-indexing a site can cause great harm to people given that Google has so much power and such a captive audience. If they had a beef against someone, they could very easily cause them a great deal of economic harm by simply pulling them from their index. For instance, what is to stop Google from just pulling all MS related results (and sites) from their index? Imagine the effect that would have.
Royal Crown Cola! Hahahahahaha Yeah, love the supermarket competition between coke and pepsi. One week, coke is cheap, the next week, pepsi is cheap. Same with beer. Now if only there was such competition in the liquor market! Then maybe I would pay less than 50 bucks per bottle of MacAllan's.
I look forward to the day when any company causes a little bit of a fairer plying feild for all of us. I dont wish bad on google it just seems they have the power to destroy peoples lives without much of an explaination at times. Surely alot of times there is a good reason.... but some sites that were wiped out dont deserve it. Somepeople have worked their talil end off only to be hurt bad and not know why. I think some alternatives will be great!
This is only possible if they build super search engine technology. I think they have enough resources but they are bit unlucky or lazy.
Hey Jeremy! Stop putting ideas into Google's head (not that they haven't suggested that in their boardrooms already!). Man, that would make Jobsy explode FOR REAL! The fly on that wall would go deaf!
It's really interesting when you think about it. There is nothing that says that Google has to index microsoft.com. They could just dump it and be done with it. I am certain it would have an intial impact. Either way, Google is quite young yet. It will be interesting over the next 10 years to see where they are. MS has been around since the 70's. Anything can happen. Didn't Gates once proclaim he would crush Apple too? Look at them now.
Unfortunately, that's the way big business works in the world today! In this case it looks like Microsoft is in a new position, "underdog" which could be good news for all of us with a long range Internet plan.
I believe that Google does not need Gates to be crushed... they are contributing to crush themselves. Not my words, just the opinion of lots of people complaining about this and that Google related things.
I am not complaining about Google at all. They are paying me good money to advertise on my sites. I can't believe people are so greedy these days! Then again, I can believe because I know what drives us to be that way. However, IMO Google plays the game fairly, they set the terms, the conditions, the laws or whatever else you want to call it. For what? For our benefit, as well as theirs. Of course they are making a great deal of money. That's because they are the best at what they do. No other company can offer or do what Google does, otherwise we would all be looking to that company. The facts are so showing in relation to this point. If people don't like Google then listen very very closely to this very important piece of advise that will clear all the bad thoughts in your tiny little heads. Ready?? Listening closely?? Don't use Google anymore. Go elsewhere. There are other SE's. There's plenty of them. Stop whinging and complaining like two year olds! Get a life! Be reasonable! There! I've said my little piece. Now off you go, back to school and get some education. You need it!
We don't need any dominant search engines! We need all fo them to be equal to one another. Till then, let them fight bitterly for our attention. These are big corporation who really only care for themselves. They can step on you, and nowbody will make a fuss about that. Well, HARDLY somebody will make a noise about it. They play the tunes, and we dance acordingly, no matter what they play. Let them fight the gladiator's way. My simpathy is for the small and week. st12
MSN will have to improve their algorithm and search results drastically to be able to compete with Google. Who knows.. the change might affect sites doing good on MSN!
If your at the top of anything in this world then people are going to go straight for your throat, a downside of being "At the top" is people are falling over themselves to topple you, too much talk and bragging goes on, its better to be quietly confident, they should just get on with doing what their doing instead of firing back and forwards with big talk. Putting all the big money aside for a second i think its more of a case of a smoke screen of optimism with all of them rather than wisdom and superiority.
I am all for a bitof competition but I think MS has an unfair advantage on this one. This could spark another monopoly debate. You cannot compare firefox being bundled with the google toolbar, with Windows being installed in practically every computer sold in the world.
I think Ask.com is on the right track but it doesnt have the financial backing of google or MSN .. would be nice!
