Hi, I was wondering if anybody else running game sites has noticed a significant drop in impressions. I am guessing it is because of all the high school / college spring breaks and or kids being done with school already. OR its something with my sites. If you run a gaming site please let me know how it is doing
i had a slight drop last week. and this friday was quite something, i guess it also could be due to very good weather all over US, nobody sitting at home playing flash games from what i remember summers are always brutal, best of luck
I always wonder if gaming sites are good investments, there seems to be so many of them. Many seem to be exact duplicates and the cost of running them would be high? Because of bandwidth? But then again maybe they are like joke sites, no matter how many of those there are there is always room for another 5 or 5,000 it seems.
There are no such thing as good short term investments in ANY market, including the web. The market is judged only by one thing: supply and demand. If there is a big supply of good sites, then expect your value in that market to go down. Over time, though, if there is too much competition for the same ads, some people will leave that market, pushing the value back up (lower supply of publishers in that market). Don't go after a topic only when it's hot, go after a topic when it is cold. The longer you stick to it, the better you'll do, the better you'll weather the ups and downs. I've seen some topics of mine go in the toilet, but I kept writing, kept interacting with my visitors, and kept finding ways to attract a more refined category of visitors. Over time, the earnings went up, dipped, rose, dipped, etc. Only looking back over years can you really judge if it was worth your time.
