I have gaming-forums.org, which i have about $50 to use for marketing ideally for month or longer, im sure there are people with bigger gaming sites than mine, who have been where i am now in that they have a fairly new site. As way of getting members im offering a free forum for clans and similar groups of people. Im also open to other suggestions which i would appreciate. However what im really looking for is help/advice on how and where i can advertise my site. As stated above i have $50 and possibly another $50 if all goes well for the following month. However by then i would need to see an increase in sign ups/posting etc otherwise id be a little bit knackered. As s already said i am really looking for help and advice with this one and so would really appreciate any help what so ever. Thanks in advance
I would try to get some link exchanges, to try to improve your rankings on search engines, and that could bring in some more traffic. That would generally would be free, so that wouldn't cost you anything. Also maybe you could find a site where you could purchase a spot for a banner or a link, to try to bring some more visitors to your site.
tony, try article marketing on hot gaming topics. Post at ezinearticles.com and goarticles.com. Try to write an article about gaming for www.gamasutra.com and other online gaming hubs. Of course post to other gaming forums and oh yeah.... Dont forget to make a resource box or sig file with a link to your forum on all of the above! Article marketing can both give you a spike of targeted traffic and provide a steady flow of traffic for months at least and maybe years.
Join other gaming forums, add your link to your sig, and post frequently there. Sure it's alot of work, but it can pay off. Also post the same amount or more on your own forum. You have to keep it looking active. You could also start a contest and post it here and freebie sites.
Besides joining other busy forums, you can do post exchange at the same time to make your forum look busy so that vistors will not feel empty
