Microsoft offered several pre-release builds of Windows 7 before the official release. Software development firms from various quarters, including game firms, have been building new applications on top of the new OS. Certainly the new Windows 7 comea across as a sleeker and faster upgrade from Vista, but game developers are wary still hoping to prevent the same issues with Windows 7.
I feel that microsoft has put efforts to make Windows 7 a good gaming platform. This was even assured at the launch of Windows 7 at Singapore that it the games at Vista will be compatible at Windows 7
There's also a windows XP mode available for windows 7. You need to install some software distributed by Microsoft to emulate the application as if it was being run on XP.
Well nowadays a lot of games created by those gaming companies really make their games to be fit and compatible in the windows 7 operating system and I think that they do more compatibility with the 32-bit version of Windows 7 rather than the 64-bit.
I rarely face any problem while playing games on Windows 7. Maybe because I'm not playing resource intensive games.
yes i no they have a windows xp mode when running apps i think this works for games as well i you would right mouse click on the game icon go to prop and check box the run under xp mode
One of the worst operating systems i have ever used. I switched from XP to Win 7 but due to incompatibility for many software and tools, i have kicked my OS back to XP
Win 7 is crap. Everyone said, that Win7 is better than XP. When I switched to w7, I had lag big time, and in result of that, I'm now using Linux Mint, and it's the best OS for me so far
Windows 7 is the best OS for gaming. There is nothing better. Although some old games may not work with it but still its awesome.
There's a way around for people who wants to play or install their favorite games or porgrams in Windows 7. Just right click the installer and then choose "compatibility mode". Now choose the OS version that you are using before or choose the default version that Win7 told you to use. Then install the programs. If it fixed your problem then hit continue. Windows 7 is a great OS. There's just a new learning curve.
+1, i played css, cod4/6 and they run smooth better then performance on vista. Maybe games developed 5+ years ago are not probably going to work though.
Windows 7 64bit here - No gaming issues whatsoever. Steam runs well with the 40odd games I have bought with it.
From my experience I have not had any problems running newer games (and by new i understand games that also worked on Vista and newer) on Windows 7 64 bit. The problem comes when you try to run old games. Some of them can be played by using compatibility settings but others (like Starcraft Broodwar) just refuse to work.
