GameTaggr.com - A Social News Site for Gamers.

Discussion in 'Sites' started by kaltek, Sep 18, 2007.

  1. #1
GameTaggr.com is a digg-like social news site for gamers where you can submit, promote, save and keep track of everyday gaming news.

It runs on Pligg, the design is 100% unique, made by myself. You get all rights to it and I will not use that design anywhere else.

    TRAFFIC
Site went up in August. Every visitor since then is either from Google or one of the partner sites.

Google has over 2,700 pages indexed and more every day.

August - 1316 uniques and 39536 page views
September SO FAR - 1637 uniques and 17856page views. (This month will probably double last months visitors)

    REVENUE ? WHY AM I SELLING ?
Have done absolutely no advertising and that's why I'm selling - because I don't have the cash to promote it right now. Site has made just a few bucks - just a little AdSense and Chitika there - so assume no revenue. But as you can tell from the page views shown above, just by slapping some CPM ads on the site you're gonna make money.

Less than 50 registered users right now. Probably because the majority of people only check the front page and vote for the stories that have already been promoted to the front page (anonymous voting is currently enabled - it's adjustable from the admin end).

    PARTNER SITES ? TOOLS ?
Partner sites are sites or blogs that I have contacted and who have implemented a gametaggr's social bookmarking submit button on their site. Check the list here: http://www.gametaggr.com/tools.php#featured

Tools are available for gaming sites here: http://www.gametaggr.com/tools.php

Starting price: $200 (up by $25)
    BIN: $1000
    Payment: via PayPal.

    Auction ends Friday afternoon.

Basically it's all there. The potential is huge. If only someone who can throw some advertising money on it would buy it from me, I know I sure as hell will continue to submit stories from my gaming sites.

I'll be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Are users logging in and posting the articles on the site right now? Or will the script checking RSS feeds or somehow automatically getting new articles?

    Thanks,
    Steven

Will all the back links stay? Can we get some more traffic proof (where is it coming from?)? Just PM me any other details also.

dabontv: right now there are 37 members. Most of the stories have been submitted by myself and partner sites. Hard to say an average but it took me 5 minutes to submit about 20 stories every day.

stevenb7: I own 3 of these sites and yes, the links from all these sites will remain. They are partner sites. Also, I haven't implemented it myself, but it is possible to set it up to draw content automatically from other site's RSS.

Chewyshoe: backlinks will surely stay if the site remains operational. Below are some traffic stats.

    August september totals.

Chewyshoe, the starting price is $200.

And I've actually already got a BIN interest via PM. But since neither of us are experts in restoring databases, it depends on what his/hers host says.

The person who offered BIN via PM has retracted the offer due to problems with his host, so $200 is the highest bid right now.

That's the thing, it doesn't require anything special. Just PHP 4.3.0 or higher and MySQL.
I think the person was just looking for an excuse to get out of his BIN bid by bringing moving the site to his server as an excuse.

dabontv and stevenb7, thanks for the bids. But surely a higher bid will be made soon :)

    When does auction end?
Bin price seems too high based on amount of work still to go to finish site, then the time to maintain content.

    I bid $250
