Ok so I have read on here that gamesites ads yield low payments. My site is based around BF2142 and the clan a few of me and my friends started. www.thepublicenemy.net I noticed that some of the ads not only are low quality ads but remain the same. If you were to go to my forums the 'Drugrunners' ad has been there for about three or four days. The home page however has started to cycle out ads with new ones but they also seem to be low paying. I just registered and placed adsense ads around Monday so maybe things are just settling in? How does google decide what ads to place on my page? Is this done by my meta in the page or some other way? Can I place phrases like servers, vacation, ect to get better ads? Sorry, I am new at this and I probably should have read more of the google FAQ. Any information is appreciated. Eagle
Generally, forums are harder to get ads that are based on your content, due to how the scripts are setup.
I think that CPM ads will yield more on your site. Game sites earn more through CPM. Try ValueClick and CPXInteractive.
The ads will be based on the content of the page and not meta tags. Since google is discounting (not totally) meta tags in their search algorithms I doubt if they will influence the ads.
Its not that theres no money in this area of advertising, quite the opposites. The issue is how many game sites can you list? Hell even yesterday somebody was asking about another battelfield dedicated website. So, ((all the money in "gaming sites")/(all the traffic that looks for games on the internet))*ammount of traffic your individual site gets = $$ you get from game site. Now if your competitor gets 95% of the traffic, they will also get 95% of the money. You can also take it, that gamers are looking for information not ads. Pierce
Most of the time, visitors will not click on google ads exspecially when they are getting resources from forum. Forum have hugh impression but the CTR is low.
All gaming sites yield low payouts. If you started it specifically for AdSense revenue, I guess you'll be pretty disappointed.
Well, yes the PPC for game sites or low. But getting traffic from search engines and converting it to good CTR is quite easier. I don't have any complaints, even though the PPC is quite low. But in over all, gaming site gives better earning than the other blogs.
