    Hi, just quick question:

If I wanted to copy games to my site, Would I need to get any permission?

It depends on the games and the site you are getting them from.

Most games seem to be freely available.

If you reverse compiled and change the game, that might be a different matter.

most games are copyrighted and i doubt that the company who manufactures them or the creators would give you permission to post their games however this only for games such as xbox 360 games playstation etc so it depends on the type of game

You are making a lot of post in the legal section of the forum. Most of them dead wrong on the law. Please stop posting guesses in this section if you don't know what you are talking about. I have a tendency to rep people who continually give very bad legal advice - but I start with a warning. :)

I am also in the game business. Like many game developers, I said in the EULA that people could copy and distribute freely the demo version of my PC games. I also provided publishing material. I also received many times emails from guys who ask permission to distribute my demo, even though it was indicated in the EULA. Please read the EULA to know more. This is generally found in the Distribution section of the EULA. Most of the time, it is indicated for demos, but you can contact the developer if you are unsure. For the full version (with a prices) obviously not. Freeware could be distributed freely, but also check the EULA to be sure. Very very rarely distributors want to keep the control over the download sources.

    OK cheers guys,

It seems that I should be fine, but I will email the owners of the games to make sure that I dont run into any problems in the future.

If you publish in cb, it seems that you dont need to get permission. Cb would never deal with this case if the game owner emails cb to solve the problem.
