Lets just remember the 90's, i don't think there was any gamer who hasn't played duke nukem or quake 1 or any other classic game. Back then games we're simple, people weren't interested in the blink blink clear graphics, they we're interested in playing the game and having fun. Lets just think of heretic:its was a very compelx game in its meaning but didnt have any shiny graphics...what did everyone want to do? kill monsters and finish the levels. Nothing fancy right? Many old games we're fun to play but it seems that they we're discontinued, not like quake wich is still currently running and being developed. Duke nukem 3d got lucky because in 2005 a group of students revamped the game, made the brand new textures from scratch and added good looking graphics. Starcarft's last expansion pack was launched in 1999, the game was a big succes and it was implemented in big gaming tournaments, it was something new and atractive to the public. Many people still play it on BattleNet. But what about all the rest of the games that we're discontinued, wouldn't you enjoy playing an old game with good graphics? Maybe you would, maybe you wouldn't but hell sure i would play starcarft with a warcarft 3 graphix and some new addons. I see current games that altough they have shyny graphics, in gameplay and storyline they can't match the old games. What is the reason? Why are games discontinued?, because they aren't popular? or because the developer got bored of further developing the game? This is a question that only the game developers can answer.
