Hi, This site hasn't been officially launched, but it's close. I just don't want to rush before I've got a good announcement and some "pillar" material (on the blog likely) to publish throughout the web (where I can submit it). It's a site where people can discover machinima (movies made inside video games) or in a nutshell it's what you get when you combine digg, reddit and imdb adding a karma system and applying it to machinima. The site allows you to browse, vote, review or submit machinima movies. The current submissions are there mostly as a filler. The site has barely been promoted so it's pretty much empty as far as traffic and ranks go, but I'll be promoting it soon. It's GameLapse.com. The color scheme, the theme, and the page layout makes the site look professional however, I think it would be nice if you added some text on the first page explaining to your visitors what the site is about.
Thanks, that's not a bad idea. It crossed my mind but I wasn't sure.. I might add a sentence and then link to the about page for more.
Where is your site hosted ? It loads rather slowly in my place . It is a nice design, but I suggest you have a colorful header .
It's hosted on an US VPS, but it does sometimes slow down for some reason (mysql maybe) though most of the time it's fine. I will look into that before launch. About the more colorful header, maybe it'll liven up a little when I add some banner on the right side of it.. Otherwise aside from adding some additional decorative elements I'm not sure how would I make it more colorful without breaking color scheme consistency... It's funny though, at least to me, sites with no ads whatsoever kinda seem less lively and more empty than those with at least some ads. Has anyone else noticed that?
