As a gamer myself, i am planning to start a game site to publish a small game review, my personal ratings and some screenshots. i am also thinking about some affiliate programs to sell games.

do i need to get permission from publisher of every game for reviews, ratings and screenshots?

    what are the legalities involved?

hmm i would say no as its basically free adverting for them.

you may want to send them an email tho first asking if it is ok. but i am sure they will say yes.

No, I can assure you, you do not need their permission to review the games.

The screenshots however, may be your only issue.

Its not illegal anyway, but if you want to be more secure you can send them an email for asking their approval.

I have a gaming reviews website as well, and from past 2 years i have no problem with it so far.
I post small 300-400 words reviews, Personal opinions about the games, ratings, Screenshots and youtube games trailers as well. So i think it should'nt be a problem at all.

critics have been reviewing games, movies, toys, plays albums and just about everything for years now - you have nothing to worry about.

You may have to get permissions to use screenshots though - I don't know about that.

where to get game front cover pics? i am worried about taking them from other sites because it would violate copyright law. i am thinking of signing up with amazon affiliate to get those game front cover images and publish them on my site. Any other ideas?
