Hi All I have been thinking of an idea for an online game / economy, which I would like to investigate further. Has anyone had any experience with developing games or reccomend where the best palce to start would be, as far as researching the idea further and possibly finding a potential partner to develop it? Cheers Jake
Hi Jake. I created and ran a popular browser-base game for two years until I sold it to a larger game company. I use PHP as the server-side engine, SQL for data storage and CSS and JS for visuals and dynamics. I never learned from anywhere, I just put my mind to it and learned various languages. The tools depend largely on what type of game you want. If we're talking about a real-time graphically oriented game, then Java would be a good language to learn. Seeing as it's very similar to C#, I'd pick this up very quickly. If you're interested, I'm reviving the game I sold and producing a mini-game to keep fans occupied til it's release. PM me if you'd like to talk more, I'd be more than happy to. Cheers.
I have experience creating Flash games, but I generally create small games. I don't have experience programming for mobile devices yet, or creating big games like Farmville. I recommend you to start small. There are various sites and tutorials you can find by searching the Web, but one great site that I've gone to is The New Boston. Best of luck, and if there is anything you think that I can do for you, please feel free to send me a PM.
Depends what kind of game development, there are many platforms based on Flash or programing language like PHP or ASP. Generally it may be successful, but it is huge investment in development, servers and advertising.
we have many software like game developer 8 Game Maker 8 makes it easy to create great games without having to learn a programming language or spend a lot of time. Many tutorials and resources are available, along with a lot of help from the community. And you can find many tutorials on www.gametutorials.com/
