I started Game Demos a few months ago as a site to enable people to quickly find demos for games (e.g. if they're thinking of buying one). At the moment there's only 25 games listed, but I'm adding more all the time - it's a slow process because there's no admin interface so I'm manually updating the database using phpMyAdmin. Other than adding more content (which I'm doing gradually anyway), does anyone have any suggestions as to how to improve the site? At the moment it's making a small trickle in Adsense (although still more than all my other sites on average) and I'm looking to build that up slowly, but I'd rather not plaster the site with more ads than there are already.
Hi pwaring, Rather than have the three options on the left why not have three vertical columns with top picks in them on the front page. I guarantee people would stay longer and not "click-off" on the front page as content is right there on the front page without them having to drill-down. This will definitely strike up more interest Regards Stuey
Further to my last post, why not add images to the front page as well. A games site searcher is interested in visual bits so you need to cash in on it! A picture says a thousand words .................. S
Thanks for the comments stuey, I'll see if I can add some sort of ranking system for the games, and display random ones on the home page for now. Images are a good idea too, if I can find some relevant ones for the games that are listed then I'll think about putting some up.
Hi Pwaring 1) Nice site with collection of games from many sites. I would look nice if you have Statistics and ads on right sides. 2) also add meta description, keywords, and some text in index page to get searched in Search engines. 3) try add some pictures of that game next to download to look cool. Submit your site to us to increase your link popularity Good Luck
I'm planning on submitting the site to a few directories, although to be honest I rarely see any traffic from the ones I've submitted to already (both this site and others) so I'm never sure whether it's worth the time or not. Personally I prefer the statistics/ads being on the left side, although I might try swapping them to the right just to see how it looks. As for meta tags, I might give them a try once I figure out what I want to have in them, although I thought there were of a lot less importance to search engines nowadays. Thanks for the suggestions.
