Noted that many start Gambling, Porn blogs and earn money from ads/ commissions even though gambling/ porn is illegal in their country. These sites are usually registered and hosted outside their own country. Can their governments still penalise or go after their citizens even though these website business are outside their country?
Hi, This is very unlikely as (currently) most hosts allow anonymous clients, which is definitely not anonymous, as they pay with paypal etc. everything can be traced. But ye, many people still do this as it makes them hit the jackpot and earn big. Governments actions depends on the location/country ... for example, here in Dubai - the government might not even consider the hassle. But lets say Netherlands, maybe (im not sure), people might be asked to get in court for such acts. regards, Ryan
Wrong. This is bad advice. It does not matter WHERE you content is hosted. It only matters where you live. Same as it would apply in regards to tax law. For example, if you are a U.S. citizen, you can live anywhere in the world, but you still have to pay U.S. taxes/file a return. Even if you do not live here throughout the year. There are some other factors that play into that, like where your revenue comes from (U.S. company, versus abroad) but you should really take to a CPA or lawyer in your home country (if not U.S.) and see how they treat off shore business. This could vary from country to country, just like tax law. This myth about hosting off shore frees you from liability and risk is nothing more than message board lore. It is not fact. You do not have to believe me alone. Free free to contact a professional lawyer/CPA. They will clue you in on the reality. Good luck.
I've done a lot of copywriting jobs for porn program operators. You should get your own legal opinion on the subject before delving into that niche, even as an affiliate. BF is right, as an American citizen you are required to claim profits worldwide. It's just the cost of having that US passport.
Barefootsies is correct. I used to be heavily involved in gambling portals and got out for this exact reason. There are ways to form offshore corporations and bank accounts but you best know what you are doing. Best to stay safe, you never know what one of these silly governments will do. http://www.domainnews.com/en/views-on-kentucky-gambling-domain-name-seizure-differ.html
Maybe the sole way is banning their sites.Sometimes,it's hard to find the owner of the site if they don't want to disclose their identity.
