Gambling online license ?

I want to start a new type of online contest with big prizes, such as a car and so on. The idea is unique and never tried before.

My question is, do I need a gambling license ? If so, from where I can get one ?

    Thanks!

Would that not depend on what country you are running the contest from and what countries you allow to enter it?
Depending on the rules you set up, you may or may not require a licence, and may avoid needing one by a simple change to those rules.

for the UK have a look at

I need a license for the European Union, as I live in Romania. The site is going to be an international one.

    Thanks for the info.

Just curious, what is so unique about that ? Contests, Sweepstakes, and Giveaway's aren't exactly a new way to promote business or build a mailing list.
They are as old as print.

The idea of the contest is new, not the contest itself.

Purely depend upon the country . By the way contests can't be messed up with gambling.

Consider running this out of Costa Rica as the country has no rules or license requirements for gaming type businesses -- I would also recommend a virtual address there as well if you use Costa Rican hosting.

There are hundreds of gaming sites that operate out of Costa Rica for the same reason.
