Gambling and becoming an online Bookies

Hi guys, so recently I have started to work on a football forums which I am hoping to expand and offer a service which will bring people back and help the site grow. But I would first like to know if there is anyway to go about, legally. Because I don't want to grow something and find out that I am not doing it legally.

Also if there are any programs/pieces of software which would automate the gambling side and allow odds to be updated every sooo often and be able to take bets etc :)

Also if you have experience then can you pass some on because I want to fully research this and see if it is viable in any way. Thanks guys :)

The links i gave were for UK laws etc.
If it's not in the UK you will need to look up your local laws, and possibly where the server is.

Don't expect it all to be cheap, in the UK it would cost over £4k per year for the basic licences you would need, +local authority licence probably + vat/gaming tax to sort out etc and a LOT of paperwork for you to do, assuming you passed all of their vetting etc.

Used to work in that industry for 18 years when i was younger.

so as long as you pass all the vetting you would have to pay a minimum of £4 and for every bet you take and make money on you would have to then pay tax on that? What initial costs are there? Like do you have to pay for attempting to pass the vetting? Also is there an age restriction? Cause I am only 17 :/ so would this hamper me at all?

    Thanks :)

Sorry was meant to be £4k per year for the basic licenses you would need from the gaming board or gambling board as they are now called, and then you may need extra ones for online work etc.

Vetting is to make sure you have no criminal connections/friends , or anything else the cops or gaming board think risky (hope you did not fart on a bus when you were 14 ;) )

The gaming tax is a part of every bet, not just those you make money on, unless things have changed since i got out of that industry.

At 17 that would be a no no anyway. Carn't remember if you need to be 18 or 21 but the site i gave you links to will say.

right ok, well i suppose age doesn't matter it just means I can hit the ground running with a little(hopefully quite big) community of people who would be willing to gamble.

btw what sort of profits/losses would a small forum/website make from betting anyway? Like per bet? Because if I was making say even a couple hundred pounds a year over and above paying for the licenses then I would be happy with that.

No way to tell. It would depend somewhat if you were handling the bets yourself or not and how well they managed to bet on the right things :)

Probably a better way might to to look at some of the betting affiliate sites, and i am sure it would be far less hassle to you.
Many have widgets you could place on your site.
