Gaining Anything from Directories?

Hello All,

Please explain me, how would I benefit from adding my site to all the directories I can find?

 

1.) Organic Traffic when someone uses that directory (usually they find it through the SERPs
2.) Link Popularity which can equal rankings - More and more directories focus on the SEO benefit

 

I feel we can make some decent adsense targets out of these ODPs

You aren't alone. I don't really get what hes talking about.

Maybe he is giving a benefit to being a directory owner rather than a submitter.

 

yes perhaps but what would ODP be then? I thought something like Open Directories P...?

 

Its the Open Directory Project or DMOZ which is what made it even more confusing

 

lol yeah well i'll just ignore his comment unless he states what he means.

 

apart from the free backlinks, i recieved about 20 - 30 refferals daily from directories so i guess you also get that extra bit of traffic aswell.

Well, ODP-> Open Directory Projects. I have seen many sites that use DMOZ and other ODPs. The best thing I have noticed is that the adsense ad units displayed on the top of the directory listings are highly relevant to the directory topic. Hence the publisher gets better focussed clicks which implies better adsense CTR. Hope this clarifies.
