Hello Everyone, Have just been working on optimisation of some of the sites and some of these have gained MSN ranking within 20-25 days. Just wanted to know from your experiences that is this ranking worth in terms of stability, sending traffic etc.
MSN traffic converts the best for me. For some reason they really seem to like buying stuff. Wish I had more of their traffic.
IMO, MSN has the best conversion of traffic weather you are selling through affiliates or using PPC adds. But 4 me since their recent change of their algo things are a real big mess. A coupple of months ago you could easily rank high with only a few links, and some basic on page optimisation, and now MSN is totaly unpredictable and therefore unreliable. I dont know who even bothers competing in msn. And one more thing, even if you manage to be really highly ranked that doesnt mean it will look like that tommorow. I ve learned that the hard way.
Often times with MSN it seems like the timeline goes: 1. Submit site 2. wait a few days 3. You get ranked highly for this or that keyword 4. wait a few days 5. you drop COMPLETELY (or nearly) out of ranking at ALL 6. wait a few weeks 7. you come back up to about where you were, maybe a bit above. At least, this has just been my experience for the most part, your milage may vary..
That's interesting. I have a blog that MSN loves but google doesn't care much for. Which is ironic since it's hosted on the google owned blogspot.com
yep, it's weird. I don't know about MSN, but for gooogle my blogs don't exist. I submitted to MSN now to see what's up....
Get a lot a lot of links, despite its nature (link farm or spam links or comment links) and you will rank high in MSN...but drop out from Google.
So basically they are opossite poles? nah, seriously, i even forgot that MSN actually has a search engine, so it might be around the same for everyone. I rather rank well in google, since it's some sort of "default" search engine.
The Ranker in MSN Search uses data-driven machine learning. It continually adapts to changes in techniques. Look for the Microsoft Research Paper "Learning to Rank using Gradient Descent" to get an idea of what that means. Our aim is to show results that will best please our customers. SEO that helps us do that will work; other kinds shouldn't. Obviously we haven't perfected this yet, but that's the idea. Therefore, put your effort into making your site nice for the customer who's going to use it. That creates value that should last. Don't look for tricks to make a mediocre site outrank a quality site; look for ways to make your site legitimately add more value than that other site. But if you do find a trick, don't be surprised if it suddenly stops working one day.
Your SE is terrible since the recent algo change - TERRIBLE! Yes, it was spammed a lot more before but now the results are way too lousy. You say that we try to make our site better and with more quality and the result will show but that isnt true. How do I expect that when your crawler has in fact 3 things it can recognize and value accordingly. A lot of links from link farms with the appropriate anchor and you can get basicaly as high as you want for any niche.
