Hello I have developed superior web site compared to my competition. My website graphics look very slick and i have better quality content than my competition has. I have more than doubled my content compared to any other similar site out there. I have support for 6 languages and my visitors can select specific browser for opitimized performance. I really dont want to expose my website to the public yet, i just want to come out strong when i go live! Now the number one result and rival of mine has a domain that has been registered since 1997, they have special listing in google and they have translated their website to 5 languages. They have about 2000 pages of content compared to my 4500. Their website is graphically one of the ugliest i have ever seen, and their content is medicore in quality at its best. Now the questions is how much does the age of domain name affect rankins in google listings, if i have domain that has been registered since 2006, and he has domain that is registered since 1997, how much does it affect if i have superior site compared to his. Should i just go ahead and buy expensive domain for my site or should i just invest in advertisement. Thank You! Uuno Turhapuro (Finnish double agent, bum & Filmstar)
The domain age does affect the rankings a bit. But what I would suggest is instead of buying an expensive domain, you pay more attention to PPC and marketing. If your website has quality content it will reach the top - but will take some time and effort on the SEO front. This shows that your rival also has spent a lot of time on developing content. So IMO you should concentrate on marketing and PPC while doing SEO simultaneously.
Well, does PPC help with google? I mean it brings me traffic from there, but does it have any affect on rankins? Does google favor those who pay for advertisement? Also thanks for your helpful answers... Uuno Turhapuro (Finnish double agent, bum & Filmstar)
PPC wont help with your rankings but will bring you decent traffic if you utilize the adwords campaign smartly As for the SEO you should continue to get quality relevant backlinks, for this you can compare the backlinks that your competitior has and try and get links from them + more & more relevant links
The age of the domain won't make any difference but the length of time google has known about your site does. For example since your competition has been in google since '97, and google knows it has all of those pages it will pay more attention to indexing his site every day, while since your site is relatively new the googlebot will only visit every few days, and will only dig so deep. Basically even though you have more pages google won't know that until it finds all of those pages and give them a good ranking. Do you have any links coming in yet? Because the number of links coming in will make a big difference on how much interest the googlebot shows for your site.
