G dropped alot of pages over the weekend

Pretty sure this was internet wide, not for all sites but for many (about 1/3 of mine). Matt Cutts posted about cleaning up some "spam" over the weekend. I noticed I lost some linking power (allinanchor's dropped a few places on alot of keywords while the BIG name sites like about, wikipedia, etc. gained a bunch).

I'm guessing I lost some links on sites that lost pages, thus costing me pages and rankings. Just speculation really, anybody else notice rankings change over the weekend?

Yup and for some its a good thing one of my keyword actually got higher position even on allinanchor(from 13 to 1) :D. SERP shows from 300+ to 100+ ...

    Good thing for me :D

It's too bad google can't cast a more "narrow net" in their hunt for spam sites. I don't envy them though. That's a hell of a task.

Unfortunately most small sites that are 100% WH are gonna get dinged in web wide spam cleanups. Seems the only ones that escape googles wrath are the big boys like; about, cnn, amazon, etc al...

This weekend I actually gained links and pages at my my sites.

These are newer sites that I am actively promoting, so I may have been able to gain more links than I lost.

Actually upon further review it's only two sites out of a couple dozen that got hit. All the content is unique though, seems that it all has to do with the incoming links.

I had one site go wonky. While the current pages are still in G's regular index, they do not show up for any search terms. Pages that used to exist last year now show up again. Also, when running a site: search, all of the old pages come up ahead of the new site. This particular site has nothing to do with any Coop or LV in or out.

The whole Bigdaddy change has cost me around 40% of my pages, with some also turning supplemental, despite the fact they are unique. Before Bigdaddy, new pages were spidered straight away.

The ranking for my home page has improved, as most of my backlinks are one way and not from spam sites or anything. But I'm losing traffic because of the lost pages.

It seems even the most honest and spam free sites can get hit.
