    Hi All,
I am not sure how many folks are using sitemeter for their stats, but I do see it on a directory every once in a while.

I just came across the following blog post on statcounter:
    http://blog.statcounter.com/?p=4

And then, of course I wanted to know more about what companies did make the deal for the spy cookies, etc, and came across this post: http://forum.abestweb.com/showthread.php?t=88601 .

So it appears that sitemeter may be dropping some really ugly cookies. Although I haven't confirmed this myself (as I don't want to get that cookie). So just a heads up that this is a potential issue.

Also, as a side note, did anyone else notice that Statcounter is now giving a 500 log for free instead of the old 100 . :)

    Morty

In FF, go to Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies. You can click "for the originating site only" (assuming you want cookies at all), and that will prevent all these third-party cookies.

Thanks for bringing this up, let's hope it encourages a few people to switch away from counters that drop tons of cookies.

I used sitemeter for a while, but found statcounter much better. I did not know about spyware which will keep me away from them.
