What according to you is the future of SEO? According to me , MSN will use the same algo as Google , Google will make their algo much more difficult and the competition will be thrice more 5 years from now :)

SEO will evolve to be more related to user experience, making a community, and less related to gaming the search engines, something which will become harder and harder until it's no longer possible.

I think that SEO will have to become part of a wider strategy. People that offer only SEO will get left behind by people offering a range of web marketing solutions. SEO isn't the only way to get traffic, though in my eyes it's still the most important source.

Link exchanges will die and more resources will be put into creating useful sites that encourage natural linkage. Web 2.0 will see more user involvement and social bookmarketing will encourage the growth of useful resources and spam sites will slowly be dropped.

content is the king and will remain the king.... Link exchange wont be stopped but will get less value in SE.... structure / frequency of changes on site / innovative information will get value and make the SEO mre complex...

Community driven sites will hold more weight. Getting links from sites such as digg and technorati will be important as far as link building is concerned. Link building will continue to outweigh on page content, but you won't get the links from community sites without good content to begin with.

    Future SEO=Branding
SEO has already merged/evolved into SEM and marketing, branding & public relations PR, there will be plenty of traffic for years to come to support spam and the like but it will decrease as portals/established & branded sites get more direct traffic.

Community driven sites that deal with specific topics will grow and become more trusted enabling users to go direct to community portals without the need to search using the likes of google so much.

If you have a problem, or want a product or are looking for a service you are already more likely to search for your answer within a trusted community like DP/Ebay/Answers as you would probably expect a better chance of immediate success & help.

Our generation is of the search generation where we had to search for EVERYTHING and thus google filled that need, the next generation will be well equiped to use community sites more and more for their needs & wants.

    I agree with you sji2671:

I can see how most information will more centered around "hubs of communities" instead of being scattered along the Internet. I think we will see SEs evolve to where they will give more weight to established or popular hubs instead of PR or linking structure.

SEO will continue as it is today, IMO, with google always predicting advanced spamming techniques ahead of webmasters!
