Future of directories

Google is watching directories, paid links, specially sitewides, and started to devalue those links.

So, what is the future of directories?

Some SEO experts are saying that directories will not have high value in further years - google knows that directories are paid listings and that links will not have high value in the future.

    Whats your opinion?

No like chameleons directories will move along keeping apace of all market twists and turns

And reviews will always have a market in this exciting and fast most moving vertical market

The future is very strong, healthy and robust :)

And growing as the QBC's continue to drop out of the market

You are right, changes are brewing. I think the niche player should do well, especially if the directory is sprinkled with good content. I am working on a niche of sorts. Hopefully, it will have longterm traction.

    Good thread guys.

Directories have a future, niche and quality. True quality not "claimed quality".

Are we talking aboUt the likes of Aviva and Alive. Have there been any further developments over the last week? Have the owners of these web sites been seen? Have they acknoweldged that we need to change direction? Or are they still ducking and diving and still trotting out that "Who Me" story?
