Hello everyone, I was wondering how many of you have used admuncher. It disables all the ads and pop ups from a site. I tried is myself and it works flawlessly. No adsense, no banner ads, nothing. Does anyone know if there is a way to show ads in your website to people even with this software installed. Coz , this is a small program about 485 kb and very easy to use. This might be a big danger to online advertising if everyone starts using this.....people are discussing about this in my forum and I might have to close down if everyone uses this.. PratikGmr
i dont think that the future of advertising is dark. there are a firefox extension called adlbock (nearly 30kb) can do the same think but i'm not blocking all the ads
You can also easily edit your host file so your PC doesn't run ads. No program needed to download, works on every OS (if you know how to do it) All you need is a list of ad companies (see link) and it's easy to prevent ads from loading on ANY WEB PAGE in ANY PROGRAM YOU USE. http://everythingisnt.com/hosts.html
there will always be plenty of internet n00bs that dont know about, or dont know how to install this type of add-on.. and there will always be those that dont want to be bothered with it.. now.. if MS or FF start integrating this type of blocking by default in the browser, THEN we'd have something to worry about..
I am not worried about any adblocking programs. The reasons why: 1. The average joe that surf on the net will never know anything about such programs 2. The people who would use the programs are a small minority. 3. The people who would use ad-blocking programs are people who are not going to click on your ads anyway. So IMHO I believe ad-blocking programs are nothing to worry about. The only people who would use such programs are people who hate ads, and no one is going to make money off of them anyway. So no need to lose any sleep about this.
I think people who seek installing of an adblocker program won't click ads or leave a site with ads on pretty quickly, judging by looking at myself. Google has future plans on the table for sure they thought of this how couldn't they, perhaps they are working on great GB - 'Google Browser' already
well only few techies and geeks now abt it may be 0.01% of total internet traffic and that causes no danger to advertising network future long live adsense
makes sense. If I were not in inet business I would use an adblocker program. But I never click on ads anyway, and if I landed on a site that at a glance had too many ads I would just leave. That is my personal browsing habits anyway. That being said no one would have made money from me anyhow. So I have to agree with the people above. Relaistically ads will not be stopped by adblockers. Dont think MS or FF would integrate anyway, it would be like getting into a war with Google and Yahoo. They are smart enough to stay neutral, for that matter they may even get paid not to. Just my two cents.
Dude i don't think so. THink about the ever strengthening email spam filter technology, still tons of heavy spammers benefit very much from spamming..
AdMuncher is not something new. There are hundreds of other solutions that prevent ads from showing. Don't worry the common user will not block your ads and will still click them
The threat is still very insignificant. Most people block popups as those really annoyed everyone. Very few people blocks other modess of advertising like adsense.
The people who knows enough to use these Adblocking software in the first place are VERY UNLIKELY to click on your ads anyway. Most ad clicks are by Internet noobs, and they are coming online by the tens of thousands a day. No worries, my friend.
absolutely the best reply on this thread..why bother about those people who are pros and they can easily distinguish between ads. dont worry those myspace kids will never install such ad-block softwares..they are too busy with paris hilton
Yup. Sad to say, but it's the big, dumb herd you want to put your ads in front of, not the tragically-hip, ultra-cool (in their minds) internet geeks. Like, you know, people who visit this forum.
