Ok i'm sure i'm not the only one, what's some of your strangest rankings? I was just checking my logs and got picked up for: I think the word their looking for is "outsourcing" Also a few days ago i got this one which made me chuckle: Pity my page wasn't about birds, but just contained the word "budgie" and "puffed" so i couldn't help his feathured friend. It's funny how SEO and SERP's work at times.
They can pick some strange keywords out of a page. Sometimes it works in your favor but most times it does not.
yahoo bots are famour for this an example of a serp ranking one of my friend had his website on cooking recipes landing on the first serp for the keyword "sex ecstacy" of course with spelling mistake, but generally very heavily trafficked keyword so spelling mistakes can also bring in some good flow This is what happened In the content he had a word ending with the alphabets "se" and next word starting with "x"(he used xtacy) and there he had a serp with the keyword "......se xtacy" sex xtacy(bots actually picked up the full word xtacy from other content LOL his traffic kinda hit the millions and his host had pulled him up for getting all the junk traffic and the associated adult bots along with it, we had a great laugh over the weekend Even though he changed the content still you know it took two months for him to get the pages indexed again(yahoo is sooo slow)
Heh, it has intrigued me for years some of the keywords used to find my sites. In the "old" days, I used to study a particular page they found to see if I could get a clue as to how their search term/s could possibly have found that page.
I rank #1 for the search term: lalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalala land (Yes, somebody searched for that yesterday)
