Finally, I have hacked my way through OsCommerce enough to make the front-end respectable (IMO).

    So...

Question for you my friends. Could you please review this following website?
All coments appreciated but in particular I want to know whether it all seems to work on your end.

I know the header image is crap, will tackle that shortly - isn't finished (if design talent want to help me out then yes, let me know please!).

Could you please add some stuff to your basket, perhaps even run through the check-out. Would be nice to make sure I know it's a test run like filling it out with Mr T Est, B. Ogus and Mrs R. Eview etc. BTW: only british postcodes work so use something like KT5 8DJ, SW18 2ES, MK9 8FS etc.

I must have missed half a dozen things so fire away! If any issues, please report which browser you use, which file you were looking at, your cookie settings, resolution etc.

Thorough reviewers can claim a free BL (from a different site). 2 for the person who can locate my admin folder and access it.

PS The focus for now is on functionality... But also interested to hear when you find American sentences as oppose to British English.

    Thanks!

Seems to work just fine - found a selection of brands, browsed different products, nearly bought something, removed it from cart...

    Just a couple of items...

    /images/cardlogos.gif has no title tag
why does Mattresses-> in the categories box have the "arrow" on the end?
Found I had to hover over most stuff to see where the links were. Some of them a little unclear.

Other than that works just fine, nice job :D

I never use title tags. Should I?

The arrow means there are sub cats. I want it to expand as standard but haven;t found a contrib yet that does this.

Yes, I was thinking of changing links to make it underlined again.

    Thanks!

Not sure what you mean. There should be 3 sub categories* and I see all 3 pics.

*Reminds me to install the contrib that allows text on these pages. Handy for SEO. I also need a thumbnail creator since on the product listings thy are all 30ish K instead of 2-3.

Sites are just never 'finished' are they?

And validation... I have seen no correlation between validation and sales yet so that'd be my last point on the agenda. I know some think highly of it but I believe I can spend my time better for now. i will check it out eventually though since it does make sites 'future proof'.

The left image wasn't displaying for me...

Maybe you were doing some tweaking when I looked at the page???

    You're on FF I assume?

    Yup...

Do you think that could be an issue?

Not really I guess. I'm on FF 1.01 as well. The site does use a caching mechanism but haven't had image issues before.

    Not too sure really.

Strictly speaking, I shoulda said that img tag has no title attribute - your "JBO logo" has alt and title attributes, as does your "AG Button", just the credit card logo doesn't - I only noticed it when hovering over the images - FireFox expands title attributes to describe images whereas IE expands alt attributes from what I remember... it's an accessibility aid more than anything. :D

OK an ALT... Will add that thanks.

Yeah accessibility is getting tricky in the UK with the new laws. Another thing o the pile 'todo'.

Edit: Strange.. It did have an alt but within single quotation as oppose to the buttons which have alt with doubles ".

Edit2: I see now that IE takes the alt as the yellow background pop up text but FF strictly uses the title tag. Interesting. Learn something every day!
