Ok so I hired a full time assitant/ linkbuilder at getafreelancer and I want him to effectively create links that will give my sites a bump in the serps. what should I focus on? blog commenting (maybe getting him to download fastblogfinder and go nuts??) link exchange via email, forums e directory submissions? article marketing?
Think about it. If you have to do easy tasks like blog commenting, forum signature, is it worth hiring someone? When you have hired a professional, you should expect good work, such as getting links from relevant sites/blogs, press releases, linkbait(advanced), creating links through social media, etc. How much are you paying him? Al
I agree - If you're paying this guy to build links for you, shouldn't he be able to, you know, build links on his own? If he's a professional he should know exactly what kind of links you'll need and where to get them. I would say definitely don't waste your time with blog commenting if you're running a serious website though - they're extremely low quality links that won't help you much if at all unless you want to devote your life to spamming.
I think he probably hired someone really cheap. Like he said a virtual assistant. This person probably has no knowledge in linkbuilding and has to be told everything to do. I have had some bad experiences outsourcing my linkbuilding, way too many bad experiences actually. So if you find someone good hang on to them because they are literally one in a million. Linkbuilding is tedious and takes up a lot of time and not everyone can spend 7-8 hours everyday building links, so sometimes you have to outsource that bit of work even though it can be a bit scary.
I would never hire anyone to do my link building for me unless its a highly recommended source (and these aren't cheap). From my experience most of these guys on getafreelancer & scriptlance end up subbing out the work to someone else anyways. If this guys heads in a bad direction requesting gaining links on poor quality sites or maybe even banned sites you run the risk of getting penalized.
If they don't know how to build links yet, you'll have to teach them. And this can be a bit of a process, but think long term. I disagree with people saying that you should do everything yourself. If you have that attitude, you'll be chained to your computer 24/7. Even if they can't do as good a job as you can, it's still work that you don't have to do (just make sure they can follow proper instructions and the pay is on par for their work + ability) If you have a good list of dofollow blogs to comment on and they can speak + write well, get them to post comments on the blogs + have them post on forums
