I already have a website and a hosting account and site is running fine. I can add 5 more domain names to my account.
Here is the thing: Now I have created another site in different niche and want to add this new domain on to my existing account. Can I upload new domain files using existing cPanel by creating new folder and then upload files or I have to use FTP software only like SmartFTP ? Which is the right and easiest way as I have never done it before?

    create "addon" via your cpanel
    add domain to it

then log into your main ftp and you will see seperate folder for each added domain
drop the files in each domain folder.

And it'll function as their own domain.coms

first you add that domain Via cpanel. ( a folder for it will be automatically created) then you can upload the files either via Cpanel or Via FTP

add the domain using the addon domain function in the cpanel

then you can access the ftp using the same ftp username and password for the domain

Here is what I did: On the >AddDomain in my cPanel, I entered here my new domain name, then it prompts me to click on Setup Redirection and then page opens up and then again I enter the new domain name one more time and save it. But I don't see any folder for this new domain in my cPanel. It's still showing AddonDomain 0/0 .

AddonDomain 0/0 means you don't have any addon domains available for use... I would check that your host enabled it :)

no thats not for adding addon. thats for redirecting after adding addon

after you click addon you will see:

    domain name: domain.com
    username/dir/subdomain: domain
    password: password

    then add "add domain"

make sure you have alreayd changed name server for the addon domain.

Then it'll set you up and you will see a new folder in cpanel root.

    ____

Dont touch the ones below the "add domain"
Setup redirect is to redirect your added domain, not for adding domain

I had already pointed the new domain name to this server many hours back.

Alright I deleted/removed the redirection old entry.
And now as Kaung suggested I entered the new domain name afresh and clicked on ADD Domain!, but now it gives me error that couldn't be set up and is not complete.

thatcase as cameron as stated and you've told us before 0/0
    means you cant have addons.

consult your host, you may need to upgrade.

One more thing, if all files for new domain can be created and uploaded thru existing cPanel, in what scenario then people use to create and upload files thru FTP software (smartFTP) or is it only in a situation when first website account is created and files transfered/uplaoded? Trying to gain some knowledge here.

    cpanel:

    1 file each time
cant upload folders - must create folders manually and then upload each file

    ftp:

upload folders + containing files at once
BLUK select all - upload capability

Thx for the info Kuang. I have never used FTP (like smartFTP) and I am more comfortable with cPanel and I think loading one at a time should be alright to start with and when it goes bigger may be I have to learn uploading thru FTP software.
BTW: My host has fixed the problem, it was disabled I guess. Domain name has been set up successfully. Thanks once again.

when you added a domain, did you direct it to the Proper directory or, are you sure you have uploaded the files in the proper place?
