FTP Programs | which are your favorites?

Sorry if this has been discussed before. I did a quick search and didn't find anything.

I'm pretty sick and tired of WS_FTP Pro (V9).

    Features I need:

    -Allows multiple site windows.

    -Default site settings.

    -Navigation history

    -ADJUSTABLE ADRESS/LOCATION BAR SIZE

I've tried 3D-FTP and Cute and they were ok.

People really shouldn't be using FTP anymore. Having a FTP server running on your server is really insecure - all the major FTP daemons have atrocious back-records for security vulnerabilities.

If you have SSH on your server you can use a SFTP (Secure FTP) client.

I rarely use windows, so I don't have any good suggestions for a client.

Edit: When I do use windows for SFTP transfers I use WinSCP, but it doesn't really have the funtionality you are after.

I use WinSCP as well, it is pretty handy, but I too wish for more. If I could copy (control 'c') the directory path, that would be handy for when I am working on something and going back and forth from my ssh to sftp.

I would also be interested in hearing what others are using for sftp.

I bought Voyager from Rhinosoft. I have also been testing CoreFTP. I had a need to CHMOD several hundred gallery albums and the feature "Recursive CHMOD" only seemed to come with paid versions. I had been using the formerly free version and find the paid ones to be much more intuitive.

I was also a long-time WSFTP fan but later versions just don't cut it.

I recently discovered AceFTP Freeware v 3.61 -- fast and functional. There's also a Pro version -- not sure what advantages there are over the freeware version.

smartftp is free for personal use. It's not bad. I almost never use ftp, so it does the job when I need it.

I use Filezilla with pretty good success.
Open Source, FTP/SFTP, free of course. I don't know if it has all the features you need, but it might be worth checking out.

I love Voyager by Rhinosoft. I think it's one of the best ftp applications available.

Three issues really bother me with FileZilla
i.) Frequent .xml file corruption - so backup your file often
ii.) Cannot drag files to upload into it
iii.) Does not recognize All FTP servers i.e., WinXP FTP - use SmartFTP for this.

On the positive site... It's threaded and if your server allows it... Very very fast.
and I use it when I am in a hurry.

I use both the FileZilla client and the server. I haven't had any issues with corruption or not being able to connect.

I like filezilla too... it's great for the price (free). CuteFTP is a great alternative though :)
