I am hsted on a linux server. I need an ftp program that will allow me to do this commane: chmod -R 777 dir_name/ I have installed about 5 different programs & none of them seem to work. I just keep getting errors saying that the directore or file does not exist and permisions could not be changes. I am using Cpanel and I have a directory of about 200 folders each containing 4 files. I need all of them set with a particular permission. Any ideas?
i use http://www.smartftp.com/, have been about to change the chmod permissons I just right click on the file/folder and change the permissions with smartftp
you are a life saver...well, at least a time saver. I usually use Filezilla. They have the same feature but they do not have the checkbox for sub folders and files. So I did not even bother looking at that. I just kept trying the commands. Thanks!!
Agreed, i've used pretty much every FTP client out there and CuteFTP wins my vote. I would of transfered several Terabytes of data through it by now.
Love CuteFTP.. I was a smartftp guy for a while until i got tired of the registration popup.. Went to cuteftp, purchased the full version and haven't been happier
I used WS FTP95 le for uploading & downloding files. Its very easy to use. You can set chmod permissions to your files. Just right click on files, and select chmod option. check trial version here http://freeware.intrastar.net/ftp.htm you can also search in google.
