ftp accounts and sub-domain issues

I recently created a new sub-domain for a new business blog. The blog is a Thingamablog which I maintain from my MacBook platform. I have setup a ftp account for the sub-domain so that I can simply hit a button to publish blog posts or republish the entire blog.

There is no set pattern-- but the subdomain keeps dropping. I can access the area using www.mysite.com/dirname however I cannot access it using dirname.mysite.com.

I have to remove and then recreate the subdomain to get it to work again. I use cPanel and nothing appears amiss from that side. Is it possible someone gained access to my domain service provider and is playing with the A dns specification?

I am not sure what to do about this problem. I have at least 4 other sub-domains on the account and I am not having problems with those sub-domains. The only difference? I have an ftp account setup for the sub-domain. Could this be causing the problem?
