So my website www.screengrabby.com has just been launched. This is my first venture and im stumped at finding good quality traffic. The concept is good because as a designer myself i know what they need. But how do i get quality traffic? Other CSS galleries get plenty of unique visitors and i was just wondering how on earth they manage it. Is it Advertising? SEO or just manual advertising on blogs? Any useful advice would be really appreciated!
There are so many ways to get traffic. You could use PPC with something like Google Adwords but that can be expensive especially in a heavily saturated market. The best advice I can give you without selling you something is to research your competitors. Find your top three competitors and then see where their links are coming from. If you can try to establish the same links they have that is a good start. Links will deliver traffic as well as help with your SEO. You will need to do some keyword research first though and make sure your links are keyword optimized. I have a few products for sale on my site right now on generating traffic. If you're interested take a look at my signature link. Hope this helps
You can also try ordering paid reviews for the bloggers in your niche. In my experience, I found that the traffic coming from a review tends to convert much better than other types of advertising methods. However, be aware that in most cases, the bloggers will not necessarily give you possitive reviews.
Thanx guys for the responses! i also need a little advice on whether or not the small advertising segment at the top will hinder my efforts and whether i should remove untill i have at least three rows ordered for? Really appreciate it!
I was just looking at that. I'm not sure if it's worth it to have it up there yet until you build some traffic and get some orders. It looks somewhat bad to have it empty up there. That's just my opinion. You might want to do some stumbling promotion. This is the kind of website that could do really well with StumbleUpon traffic. You might also want to check out StumbleUpon Ads: http://stumbleupon.com/ads Good luck!
Yea im going to check that out now! im also removing the ad space untill i get some orders! oh and i've already had a $xxxx offer for my site!! That must mean someone thinks its gonna do really well i have o admit im rather tempted to just sell... what do you think?
http://www.thelist.fm/marketing-advertising.shtml It's just about everything you need to know. It's how the big sites got big. Work it for six months, be smart about it, and, hopefully, you will be able to quit your day job.
sorry please explain what you mean? i have rejected the offer to buy the whole site offer now, as i want to build up site on my own. But what do you mean by "funny stuff"?
There has been some scammers going around looking at scripts and some strange requests made by the "buyers".
yes a nice site u got there, but as u said, its just launched, be patient just curious, how do u take the pics? PrtScr? wow, sure, if its me i would have sold, wish i can have such offers too
Read and think about following points; Free Classifieds ? ( Doesn't work ) Free For All Links ? ( Nobody visits them anymore ) Web Site ? ( Takes thousands of visitors ) Banners ? ( Expensive and annoying ) E-Zine ? ( Tons of users needed ) Search Engines ? ( Easily buried with thousands of others ) So What Does Work ? E-Mail. The Internet's most direct application is the dominant application for interactive marketing. It's immediate, inexpensive and in-your-face. E-Mail has changed business communication forever. It sells, promotes, brands, informs, reminds, creates buzz and best of all, it's cost effective.
So how would one go about doing a targetted email campaign? Sign up with companies that offer this service?
I got a freelancer to make me a program to grab screen shots and upload to a blog API automatically! So all i do is feed the program with a text file of URL s and it does it automatically for me!
You forgot "spams". Not to mention it's not legal if you haven't done business with the recipient in the last 18 months (and assuming they haven't already told you to stop spamming them).
Most hosting companies run smtp emails through spam tracking companies these days. Once your IP is blocked, you are out of business in the email department. I had mine blocked before even sending out an email. Someone had used my ip for it before, apparently. I had to go through a process to get my ip unblocked.
I agree with all of this, although email works only with certain markets. For instance, I work for a business training company and we do get conversions from email. I've sent email blasts with my own entertainment site, and got lots of unsubscribes. I think it's mainly about sending it to a very pinpoint group (such as decision-makers in a purchasing department, vice presidents, etc).
