From what I can tell my feed is small next to the 2800 or so items I've seen in other threads, but it is important to me. Since the change from Froogle to Base it seems images that showed for valid items are now gone. So despite changing the image tag (as per the new spec - see below) I can't seem to get the images to display with the new (and reported as error free) feed. Google also failed horribly to indicate that former perfectly valid tab delimited .txt file feeds would now have invalid field names. For example: old: product_url new: link old: image_url new: image_link Those are just a few of the changes but those are kinda important if you want to have, oh, say, the picture show up, or perhaps a place for the customer to buy your goods. The documentation offers all this - but nobody told us in the happy "Froogle is now Base" e-mail that we need to make changes - just that it has moved. See? Silent on the tag changes. So beware 'cause while you might see your listings in your Base account, in my experience at least, they won't be working correctly if uploaded prior to 6/1/06. My last upload to Froogle is still live with pictures showing. Go figure. If anyone has an idea about why my pictures are not working please let me know. I block hotlinking but allow the SE's, and just specifically added an "okay" for base.google.com
Picture update, next day: Perhaps it was a database refresh issue on the pictures because it appears that they are all live and each item is now showing in the database at, uh, Google Base.
I left my tab delimeted file exactly as they were with Froogle and they accepted them just fine. They use the following header: "product_url\tname\tdescription\tprice\timage_url\tcategory\toffer_id\tbrand\n" Code (markup): Is it a requirement to update the wording?
hmmm. as the post above indicated, the attributes themselves changed. my feed was working fine since my last posting but it just went to hell. i've written to support for help but no response yet. can't figure out what's wrong - i've not changed the header for days but during an update today it started kicking "Unrecognized header" errors. anyone else seeing this? thx
Here is a link to a Google Base migration tip page for the attributes per my issues and the other poster's question above: http://base.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=40443&topic=8847
feed issue update: it took about 48 hours but i got a reply from base/froogle support. to my surprise and gratitude it was very helpful! the tech spotted an issue and actually expressed it in a way i could fix it and on upload all is working 100% again. somehow some content - not visable to the eye but there in the code - crept into the column after my last column of attributes. on export from excel to tab delimited text it was corrupting the feed. i highlighted all columns (not just the cells - all columns), dragged all the way to the right side end of the file and deleted. saved. exported. worked. hope this helps someone else if they have the same issue! also - my guess this crept in when i used that column to hold a bit of text while moving things around. even though i "cut" it back out and moved it elsewhere, it seems to have left data behind. so be careful!
I had problems when I uploaded to Base, as well. Approximately 40-60 of my products did not make the cut; and I only got a report that said there were errors in my upload, but it did not tell me what the errors were, and how to correct them. I wrote Google Base, and they told me to re-upload my Froogle feed, and I did. This was about three weeks ago, and I've still been updating and uploading my Froogle feed about twice a week, with great results. There are apparently bugs to work out with Base...
I had a problem with Google Base but the technical support it is ok to use the same old Froogle formula this time but try to use the new Google Base rules ... I was using the tables like this : product_url | name | description | price | image_url | category | offer_id with Google Base they should be like link | name | description | price | image_link | category | offer_id any farther more changes ???
I've updated my feed to show the new Google Base field titles and uploaded the feed. However, my images are not being shown. Help please? Ken
