From vBulletin to SMF(Simple Machine Forums)

I use vBulletin and I have a couple of license. But for a new pet project, I wouldn't like to pay the vBulletin license so I will use SMF instead. I don't know SMF software yet, but I've read it is good enough for the money (free).

What can you say about going this route?
Which are the most important features from vBulletin that I will miss by using SMF? If you can tell....

I would say since I have used both, SMF is a great free software but that is exactly what it is. Free software. So that is what you are going to get, a security hole ridden piece of software that heavily relies on its MODs to get close to vbulletin which it cannot do. You could always start off with SMF and then impex it to vbulletin though

    Thanks !
That's exactly what I plan to do, start with SMF and if the community take off, then I can upgrade to vBulletin without losing the data.
