Hi, I just noticed that one of my sites has switched from Green Valid PR-0 (yesterday) to Yellow non-confirmed PR-0 today, Is this a sign of PR update? http://digpagerank.com/index.php?url=www.uvrx.com&dc=18 My other 2 sites both show green valid PR-2 Is this happening to anyone else? Cheers James
sometime digpagerank face some problems (especially server problems) ..and show N/A i got those results usually ..and it doenst mean a sign of pr apdate
Yes, but I am not getting N/A, I am getting non confirmed, on one site, in the link and green on two other sites! If there was a problem with there server wouldn't "all" my sites say unconfirmed? Cheers James
I also have a na to 0. That's just normal mid-quarter semi-update. G has been to my site a LOT. It won't be 0 for long.
I'm sure you will find a lot of DP members who will tell you this... Don't worry about PR, worry about your SERPS.
bingo! lol - i dont know why people still pay attention to that - this is just google's way of controlling the lives of webmasters - Don't fall into its traP!
A lot of DP members have fallen for the old strategy of repeating an error long and loud enough that is becomes a "truth". So they repeat over and over the erroneous statement — "Don't worry about PR, worry about your SERPs" and begin to believe that somehow that is SEO wisdom. The error in that statement is the false assumption that there is no connection between PR and SERPs. That is a fundamental error made by many DPers, who fail to consider Google's ©2008 statement: Pages that we believe are important pages receive a higher PageRank and are more likely to appear at the top of the search results — http://www.google.com/corporate/tech.html That could not be plainer — Higher PR —> "more likely" Higher SERPs. I cannot imagine where so many posters get the idea that there is no connection between PR and SERPs. Believe that if you wish (to your own detriment), but Google says quite the opposite.
Wonderful my dear friend, Jim. Your again a very very very good post, supporting my thoughts on PR and SERP. Thanks for sharing the link as well. "one statement you still need to correct out above..." Not alot members of DP. infact most of the members are believing the same lol...
Do you mean that yours has gone from N/A to PR-0 recently? if so thats a good sign that PR is starting to move. They updated backlinks in WMTs the other day so I am half expecting an update soon! But you maybe right, it may only end up being a minor update. Cheers James
Yep, I have read that before and I do worry more about my SERPs than PR in general, but I do think it is interesting to know how important Google rates your site. And it can be used as a good goal or target setting exercise Point taken, but as I just said to Bryce above, it is just out of interest and can be used as a target. and I thought that because I seen a valid green yesterday and a non confirmed yellow today that maybe something was up.. Cheers James
Good point Jim, and thanks for that link. I do believe that PR does play an important role in SERPs, and I also know that you can get a good ranking in the SERPs without a good PR. But I think that having a high PR makes your SERPs more consistent, and makes your site less susceptible to the so called "Google dance". Well that is just my opinion based on observations, I don't have any facts to back it up. anyway Cheers James
No it doesn't have anything about PR update its actually update in index. Now it works fine. I have tweaked it a bit to resolve that issue.
Yes, it is possible to get good SERPs rankings without good PR. Illustrations of that are often given on DP. Two thoughts on that: 1. PR is not the only factor in rankings. Some of those lower PR pages that outrank higher PR pages have better SEO in other areas (keywords, etc.) than the pages they outrank. 2. For competitive keywords, you'll find mostly pages with good PR on page one of the SERPs. I have researched this at length. And this is especially true for very competitive keywords.
As far as my "SEO wisdom" is concerned, please allow me to share this tiny bit of "SEO enlightenment", seeing as you have taken it upon yourself to get all bold faced and underliney in reaction to my previous statement. The Toolbar PR which the topic starter is talking about is entirely different from the pageranking algorithm Google uses to calculate SERPS. Hence, my statement about "worrying about SERPS" literally means that if you watch what is going on with the results for your chosen keywords, it will give you a real time indication of how Google is ranking your pages and not a quarterly (at best) indicator like that little green bar does. I have never said PR does not influence Google SERPS because indeed it does, but then again, it's not like all the PR and SEO in the world is going to get anyone #1 ranking for the keyword "baseball" over MLB.com, nor #1 ranking for the keyword "football" over NFL.com (although I do own the #1 spot for the term "baseball discussions")... And, aah, how sad that Wikipedia owns the #1 spot for the terms "Jesus" and "God", both with a PR7. I would think that the #1 SERP for "Jesus" or "God" would be higher than a PR7 Google.com is a PR10, does that mean they think of themselves as more important than God or Jesus ? It would seem so with all the Apostles of Google constantly quoting Google's FAQS as if they were scriptures. Hey, I heard the link you posted is also known as Google 3:16 ... you know, the verse that says "For Google so loved the world, the gave their only begotten SERPS, that whosoever believeth in them should not perish but have everlasting PR"... Peace Out !!!
