From Traditional Publishing to IM: Hello from a Fatigued UK Newbie

Hello, DP.

I have found my way here on the recommendation of another member and, after a bit of time navigating through the various forums, it does indeed seem like the right place for me to be.

I have run a successful small business for 15 years, as well as maintaining a presence as a writer, researcher and proof-reader in publishing and academia. In addition to looking to expand my business, I hope to utilize my skills to also explore new opportunities based on a couple of ideas I've had kicking around for a while.

I started researching IM nearly seven weeks ago and quickly found out this can be a shark-infested (and grammatically challenged) genre! Good thing I'd originally earmarked a very fixed budget (both in £ and time) which I've managed to stick to. Most of my information has been gathered through freebies, forums and blogs... but I did succumb to two purchases. One was insultingly useless; however, that was compensated by the other being precisely what I was looking for.

So, after a lot of hard work (with plenty more to come), I'm nearly ready to rock my Master Plan, and I am looking forward to learning more here on DP and hopefully being a valuable contributor as my IM journey develops.
