    Hi

I've just upgraded the hosting on one of my largest sites.
From shared hosting (and IP) to so called semi-dedicated hosting with a dedicated IP...

Should I expect any difference in how the SEs looks at my site now, or isn't there any difference at all??

Never had a dedicated IP before, so I don't know if theres any benefits from having it or not... :)

You might notice a difference if you old company had you on a blacklisted IP (i.e. one that spammers had used in the past).

The shared IP wasn't blacklisted (as far as I know), so I guess that I'll not see any significant changes then..
    (I didn't think so either.. :) )

So what are the benefits of having a dedicated IP then?

having dedicated, you can do ssl, with a shared IP you can't. I'm not sure how the SEs actually deal with an IP change. You might want to mirror your site on the old IP for a while. Anybody have any thoughts?

Should be absolutely no issues unless the new IP was blacklisted for some reason. Even if it is, it would most likely have to do w/ spam issues.

The story that dedicated IP should be better is an old myth, I haven´t found anything that tells me that dedicated IP is better then having a shared IP.

The only reason might be if your shared IP is blacklisted but then again that is not so common and if it would happen just switch to dedicated.

You can still do ssl on a shared IP it's just a matter or right configuration but its kinda a bit tricky, Might as well put a file on the old ip that will redirect the traffic to the new ip, but i guess it is only needed when the site is propagating.
