I have a PR5 web site: www.bassplayer.ro and I would be interested to achieve PR7. MY QUESTIONS 1 - Should I trade one-way/reciprocal links in very large quantity, no matter of PR? I think, no... 2 - Should I trade PR5 links - this would increase my PR? 3 - Should I trade only PR6 and PR7 links to achiev PR7 at a certain point? I would like to understand how it works... Thanks for your help! Zoltan
generally, i trade anything that is 1 or more. Those sites liek wikipedia and adobe who have PR9 and 10 have probably millions of PR0, PR1 links to them. These sites are proof that goog gives weight to quantity too. Id be very happy getting a bunch of PR5 links even if I am a PR8 or whatever.
PR is determined only by pages linking to you. For PR, it doesn't matter if you link back to them or not. Only backlinks from sites relevant to yours will help you with SERPS, so concentrating on just PR is pretty useless unless you are trying to sell links on your site. Each increase in PR requires approximately 6X more weight, so going from a PR5 to PR7 is going to require a lot more work. Obviously high PR backlinks have the potential to pass more PR, but it also depends on how many outgoing links are on the page linking to you. You would need approximately 12 PR7 backlinks (with 10 outgoing links on each page) to make a site a PR7. 85% of a pages PR passes, but this is divided by the number of outgoing links on the page - i.e. a page with 1 outgoing link passes 10X the PR than the same page with 10 outgoing links.
