If you build strong backlinks from sites related to your niche, then you may get it in first update.

Just concentrate on building backlinks and producing good content. Unless you plan on selling links, whether you get a PR5 within 2 months or 12 months won't make too much difference.

No, high PR doesn't mean more traffic.

it's impossible to tell how long it could take you to get to a PR 5, it depends on the quality of your content, the number of do follow links you build from sites with a similar theme to yourself and traffic. Just spend time on creating good content and BUILD BACKLINKS!

It can take few months to many years to get a PR5. It depends on quality of backlinks that you can get for your site. You will need lot of backlinks, especially from high PR pages, to get a PR5.

Doing a Google search will find the formula for backlinks.
A quick search found it here:
    http://netcovered.com/how-many-backlinks-to-get-better-pagerank/
(Not my site, or anyone I know...you can find a similar chart by searching)

    So, in that formula-
If you have a PR3 and want to get to PR4, it is assumed you must have 81 PR4 backlinks.

Everyone is correct. It can't be done overnight anymore. Just keep consistent link building, and more importantly increase your site's popularity. PR will follow, but more importantly, you'll hopefully gain good SERP's and continue to increase your traffic. SERP's get you traffic...PR does not!!!
