From page 24 to page 60 in Google!

    Folks,

My site just moved today from page 24 to page 60 for a particular search term in google. That's not actually the direction I was trying to move in. I can't think of what would have caused this. My few backlinks are still intact. The only thing on my site that I did really, was to just add a new post. I even planted some more backlinks, although I'm not sure if they've taken effect yet.

Any ideas what is going on? It is somewhat discouraging. Thanks.

Being on [page 24 was also not much. I am not discouraging you, however I think your number and quality of backlink is poor. Try to get some good number of quality links. Once you have quality and quantity of backlinks, there is no stopping.

that doesn't matter just a dance(google). Keep posting the good article and making valuable backlinks. That will be enough.

    Hi Crystite,

I suggest you to add more contents (do frequent blog post) and submit to top 10 social bookmarks like digg, stumble, reddit, delcious, etc.

Also, continue with your link building consistently.

Try, to get anchored keyword backlink (for the keyword that you are targeting) and make sure it is dofollow and from high quality page (low outbound links, related to your niche, aged domain, unique domain, unique c-class IP)

Reason for your drop could be:
    - losing your backlink value due to high outbound links
    - some of your backlink might change to nofollow
    - your competitors might have beat you in backlinks and seo point for that particular keyword.

Don't lose hope, just keep on posting quality unique contents and build a lot of backlinks and you'll surely get a higher position in the next update. Goodluck!

Google may have updated their algo and devalued some of your backlinks ( I hear )

It may be google dance or because of the new google algo.

Google is playing with their algo, some people are reporting it as a move over to google Caffeine. Just keep building quality, relevant content and linking to it.

Good news folks! I'm now at page 61. So why is this good news when I last reported that I was at page 60? Because shortly after I had landed on page 60, I had fallen even further, so far down I couldn't even find where my site ranked. But today, I'm now at 61. Signs of improvement.

    Crystite,

You want to be getting new backlinks every single day. Just make it your goal to get 3 good back links per day. Within a month or 2 you'll be heading for page one. The thing that will push you over the edge will be mass article writing that links back to your page.

    Good luck :)

I'm now at page 18! I think I figured out why I had dropped (from 24 to 60) so suddenly.

Btw, for a similar search term, I'm now at page 1.
