From Cakewalk to Quicksand

Paul Craig Roberts writes some great articles, usually explaining the hopelessness of the Iraq/Afghanistan situation. Here is an article that pretty much sums up the mess unwise idiots have gotten us (the Western World) into.

"Four and one-quarter years ago the Pentagon and its neoconservative advisors and media propagandists promised Americans a "cakewalk" war of 3 to 6 weeks duration. Six weeks later on May 2, 2003, in history's most ill-advised propaganda stunt, President Bush landed on the aircraft carrier USS Lincoln, whose tower was adorned with a banner declaring "Mission Accomplished," and announced the end to major combat operations in Iraq.

In fact, the war had hardly begun. Four years later with the failure in June 2007 of President Bush's desperate last measure--"the surge"--US offensive capability is exhausted. The US military can do no more and has less control of the situation than ever."

I thought Briant taught AGS this lesson already. Credibility is always important:

Someone else who sucks off on truthers:
    http://www.wanttoknow.info/050908insidejob911

    On Israel:
    http://www.counterpunch.org/roberts07242006.html

    On Bush Nuking Iran:
    http://www.lewrockwell.com/roberts/roberts212.html

Here's a nice column summing up this esteemed author:

His case of beaten wife syndrome seems almost as bad as AGS, though. So I see AGS is finding comfort in those with the same affliction. That's healthy, I'm sure.

Why are you avoiding the issue here?

What AGS has quoted is true, is it not? Allied troops still being killed in Iraq when 'combat is over'........

Nice one Bush (I think that 'end of combat' speech was the time I lost faith in Bush to be able to tell one truth)

Who's avoding? I'm just making the point that only AGS (and a few others apparently) believe that opinion pieces are fact. And when those opinions come from truthers, a guy who hates Israel, a guy who thinks bush wants to nuke Iran and blames us for terrorist actions; there isn't a lot of credibility.

Except from those who enjoy being willing accomplices.

Who ever said the combat was over? Have you heard the speech, read the context of banner or anything. Or are you just parroting what you've read elsewhere online?

The truth hurts eh lorien? ;)

Anyone with even half a brain can agree with Roberts view in that article, it's a disaster. When is your lover going to figure that out and get the brave troops out of that fucking disaster???

Glad you admit to having half a brain. I've always suspected; but now we have confirmation.

Both wars was won quickly are you really as stupid as you make yourself out to be? or do you think different?

What you really mean is the daily bombings your friends are doing makes life hard for everyone involved & in that sense the war is still ongoing, We were/are fighting un-uniformed b*stards that are content with causing havoc, these are just random beings with no face. If we would have just bombed the sh*t out of both countries & (won quickly as we did) but instead of rebuilding just left both countries in a mess everything would be sorted from your view point, except you would be bitching about the mess we made of both countries then offered no help;)

What a crap response. I though GTech was the one that needed a break, I recommend that you take a few days off from the DP P&R forum, I'll get Mia to stand in for you whilst you are away. :p

Roberts made clear in detail why your lover has utterly failed in Iraq. How much longer are you going to cry on your lovers shoulder?

But AGS wants you all to know that he is NOT anti-american, even though every post he makes is either to criticize America, criticize UK or to praise terrorists. He is not anti-american!:)

I bought my computer about 11 yrs ago, and it wasn't even considered a great computer then. I tried to watch the video but it took me about 2 minutes to see 8 seconds. I have to buy a new computer so I can see some of these videos about AGS!:) Has AGS told us when he is planning on moving to iran yet?
(Or does he already live there?)

Hrm so who is likely to take over Iraq and Afghanistan and probably Pakistan too... SA? Iran? Taliban? Doesn't it scare the shit out of you to think of any of those three having more power in the middle east? Furthermore do you really think the deep seeded decades old hatred for all things western is going to stop if we leave asap? It is not like you can turn back time and decide foreign policy for the western world 50 years ago over again so what makes you think it would stop terrorist attacks?

Simple question, would you be willing to hand three nations over to the Taliban?
