Thanks for the awesome tips.. Before I thought that adsense was the only way to go as far as online income but I too have seen the light as far as affiliate programs go..

The pot of gold can definitely be bigger with affilliate programs because you are making a cut of the product revenue instead of just being the middle man (adsense) leading the prospect to the product.

cj dot com is not the only affiliate program out there though, me personally, I focus on niche affiliate marketing where the product prices are very high so I get a much bigger chunk of $$ when a sale goes thru. I make $175 per sale with them so you can see that just a few sales can add up.

Awesome work! Good going there. I would apply to Cj but my websites are relatively new, I'll have to wait a bit.

The great thing is that things like CJ will work because pretty much everyone in the future will buy through the internet. There has already been a significat decline in people buying from brick-and-morter stores.

It's not only depend on your site's niche, also depend on your audience.
700 unique a day from digg is quite different then 700 unique form organic search engine.

    Here's my experience with CJ.com

I was running it on 10 or so sites, and making a couple of dollars a day (crap right?)

I took adsense off 3 sites, stuck up CJ banners and text
Today my total is so far: $52.45|

It does WORK! Make sure to take down your adsense ads, else people will be lured away by catchy phrases as Joe said and you'll be paid a measly 0.05 when you should be receiving $5.

I never thought I guess about taking the adsense ads off (I was getting paid per click ...? So why not!) This thread enlightened me for sure.

Well, you can easily target both,

You just have to know what the user is looking for,

    and target to them,

Dude you have just motivated me to pursue affiliate marketing more. Congrats on your achievement. Is there anything you can suggest. Were the sales generated from text links embedded in the content, or banner advertisments?

If it was text links, were you preselling much like doing recommendations, or something else?

I am blending in the products into my text...

I am also using some anchor links in my articles :)

Linda, aka fanaddict, I think used banners,

I used both, banners and text.

Go to each affiliate your accepted to and look at their highest paying EPC Banners and Text - If you can use both.

Some people like pictures, some like hearing what you think of a product.

It just depends on your niche :)

I already use CJ and adsense but this thread reminded me of a site I had forgotten about that could benefit strongly from CJ revenue.

    Cool.

The catchy titles of Adsense ads is what pisses me off. For example, if you click through ads screaming "Hot Pamela" you will end up in a site selling antique clocks.

Thanks for the info, joined CJ yesterday:)

I have a question if you dont mind answering... Since i am complete noob to affiliate marketing :D I ran a test of CJ on one of my low earner but high traffic site. Very targeted in my opinion and it worked CTR wise i had 15% CTR which is very good IMO but even with about 100 clicks i have still not got any sale. My question is does most of your sales or lead are instant after the click or do they most often come like after few days from cookie tracking and if i am getting good CTR and campaign is targeted but people do not buy that stuff doesnt that mean a problem with advertiser either his prices are too high for people liking or either it doesnt interest those visitors. I am going to put CJ ads on rest of my sites for a day or two since i was not able to find more then one targeted advertiser for this on CJ.

I have had some success with CJ on my gaming site selling consoles and games.

The way I see it is, if you got enough traffic say 1k uniques a day, what you end up doing, by putting up adsense, is you are sending potential sales to other adword users.
