FROM Address at the SMTP Level?

    Great day!

I was looking for any question related to this, but did not find any. I am hoping that someone knows if it is possible to have an SMTP server change the FROM address of an email, masking the master account. POBox told me that it was possible with their service, depending upon "how you set up your email client".

Thank you for your time! :)

If you are using Exim check out this tutorial.
If not, then procedure may be different.

    Cheers.

    Hi Jake,

You could use an email forward or mailing list feature of your smtp server if you have that. For example if you Google best smtp server, that server actually has the feature of mailing list and you can set up a mailing list with just one person in it so when you send an email to that list, its going to be forward to that person and “From:” email address is going to be changed to the From: email address of the list owner.

Easier still, why not just change the details in your email client (your name and email address) but still use the same login credentials as before, and that will change the "from" and "return" address for you......assuming the email server you are using allows you to login with one set or credentials and then send email using a completely different set. Many email servers will.

Yes! Thank you! I think that's the best solution to my problem... My smtp server has that email forwarding feature and it should be easier for me to change the From address of my email by using that.. Thank you for your help!

Hmmm.. Thank you RonBrown, I am thinking that it is a good idea, however I still want to retain the same details in my email credentials because I will still use it for some clients whom I already built a relationship. I just want to mask my main account from those who are new to my list. And sometimes, I want my marketing content writers to send the email using their own names instead of mine... Thank you for taking your time in answering my question. I really appreciate it... :)
