I think they have some kind of technical problem or glitch that somehow causes parts of their database to get corrupted. The problem usually corrects itself after a few days.

I never experienced this so-called "Google dance" earlier. When my site is ranked well in the top 5, I never lose my position.

I finally found my site. I went from number 5 to number 69 overnight for my keywords:( Most of the sites that are coming up in the SERP's ahead of me are almost completely irrelevant to the search keywords. My keywords are completely relevant to my site and the service I offer, and no black hat stuff going on, unless my competitors are up to something.

Good thing my marketing plan doesn't have Google as a key component. They are so secretive, there is no way of knowing what is going on. Hopefully it is just a glitch as many of suggested. I guess time will tell.

    Good news for me.

This time it didn't take two weeks. My rankings at SERP's are now normal after one day.

You have to be careful these days - I had one of my sites completely deindexed by G last week. After 1 years hard work and finally achieving top 5 rankings. I used G webmaster tools to ask for re-inclusion. A day or so later it was back in the G index but with a 5 page penalty. Now my site is basically just screwed in Google and will take I think around 6-12 months to see if I can get it back.

I found out what did it though... I found out because a range of other people emailed saying that there well ranked sites had been removed. It was all due to the fact that we brought a link from DP from a polish site that must have been very bad. 1 guy you had a quality site that was 10 years old and had been number 1 in G for 8 years for his major keyword. Now it is no more.

Its crazy that now G is de-indexing sites now based on a text link....... Brought any links on polish sites lately?

Same happened to me. I just got to #1 for my main keyword yesterday and today I'm gone from the top 100 for ALL my keywords! >_< It happened to another of my sites at the start of the week too. So annoying 'cos I haven't got any paid links or used any blackhat methods either..

Both sites are still indexed for Google and can be found by searching for their domain so they're not banned or anything like that.

Geez - sounds really bad - you are not alone.

If you can go site:www.yourdomain.com in Google and any of your site pages come up then you are still indexed. Therefore your can not request a re-inclusion. Are any pages of your site indexed?

My site did not disappear but it fell a few positions (from 2nd to 6th). Also, the backlink count in Google Webmaster tools has also dropped for my site. Not sure what's happening. This most certainly sucks and wI can't wait to get back to my position!

Hey guys. My site has got itself up to 16th in the rankings on a term we were targetting, but this evening it vanished. We still rank fine on other terms. Funny thing is I am using the .co.uk Google, so I click 'only pages in the UK' and it comes up fine, in 13th place, but when I search the web it is nowhere. Our site is still listed in Google.

Just a blip? I wonder if this is related to the OP? Google has been funny all day, our site was 16th, dropped to it's old position of 24th, then went back to 16th today, now it's nowhere.

    Odd. Fingers crossed.

Vanished again for searches of the whole web. Click search UK only and there we are again, still in 13th. :( still in the index, still ranking perfectly fine on other terms.
