I have a WP blog about soccer n El Salvador. I didn't post for about two months because of being lazy and not much news. Anyways I decided to create two pics with some free software and attach good content. I am sure just the content alone would not have had much impact but along with the pics that is another story. I went from like 20 uniques to about 120 the last couple of dagetys. The blog also has a FB fan page, the pics are still getting likes. So content plus cool pics create interest, the following are the two post and the FB page, these are for very specific audience so not tryng to get fans here, just sharing.
